Programs that demonstrate inovani's animation
engine:
The applications have been developed
under Windows 2000 and
XP. They have not been tested for 98, NT and ME but are expected to
work there too. At present the demos are only available for these
operating systems and the installation only works with Internet
Explorer. A Windows CE
demo is also available. If you would like a copy of this demo or encounter problems with the
PC demo, please contact the info mailbox at inovani.no.
After
installation you will find an icon for the installed application on your
desktop.
To remove the demo use the
Add/Remove Programs facility in the Control Panel.
If you encounter problems please see
below.
The Simple Player demo:
This is a
small application with some associated sound files that run on your
computer. By clicking on buttons you can select between a set of
different heads and different sentences. This demonstrated real time 3D
animation. The animations are driven by a sequence of phonemes (speech
sounds), e.g. "Say 'm' at time 1.2 seconds" and a list of
expressions, e.g. "Smile at time 1.2 seconds". All motion is
calculated from this data.

Installing Microsoft Speech:
Before
the demo application can run on Windows "pre XP" you must download Microsoft
Speech from
this
page at Microsoft's site. Get the file named SpeechSDK51.exe found at the bottom of the page,
or download directly by clicking here: SpeechSDK51.exe. You need to download approximately 69 MByte.
If
you have Windows XP you can download the "Redist.: Mike and Mary" version which is substantially
smaller also found on
the Microsoft SAPI page
and get the file names Sp5TTIntXP.exe found at the bottom of the page or download directly by
clicking this link: Sp5TTIntXP.exe.
It is approximately 3,5 MByte.
If you have problems downloading:
Since
inovani at present does not have the right to sign their software
components, we ask you to download an unsigned ActiveX control.
Standard security settings in Internet Explorer does not allow you
to do this. Therefore you might have to change your Internet Explorer
security settings in order to download. To change this setting, do
the following in your
Internet Explorer browser (based on the Windows 2000 version):
-
Click
tools->Internet Options...
-
Select the "security" tab.
-
Select the "Internet" globe and click the "Custom Level..." button.
-
Find the option: "Download
unsigned ActiveX controls"; usually second in the list. Change
the "Disable" setting to "Prompt". Explanation:
When the setting is "Prompt" you will be asked if you want a
certain action to be performed or not. You can always say
"NO". When set to "Disable" you are not asked and
therefore cut of from getting some useful functionality - like
downloading software like this.
-
Then click OK.
If you have problems running The Player demo:
By
going to this page you can
get a check to see if you have a too old version of Windows Media
Player on your system. You are directed to a page for downloading a
new version if your current version is too old.
