About inovani's technology:
inovani's unique technology is implemented in the
Inovani animation engine: a software only, state of the art rendering of
talking expressive characters. These characters are programmed to present
verbal (spoken) content with close to natural facial motions, and they
include lifelike human head models, suitably modelled cartoon heads,
“talking heads” or avatars.
The unique technology is supplemented by web-based
services that allow partners and customer to get talking heads on
their web-pages and to deliver and create talking head greetings.
These products package the various components of our technology into a
set of easy to use interfaces by means of web-pages and HTTP calls.
All this can be run as ASP services delivered from hardware owned by
inovani or on partners' servers. See more about this on the products
page.
The core architecture of an inovani talking head solution:
In an application involving inovani
technology there are four distinct parts:
1.
Head models
2.
Animation commands and sound
3.
The FacePlayer: an animation engine taking 1 and 2 as input and producing a
“talking head”
4.
Infrastructure for delivering “talking heads”
Part 3 is completely
developed by inovani and
contains the company’s unique speech animation technology. For
parts 1 and 2 the inovani software products use 3rd party software and
models.
Part 4 is necessary
in order to produce an end user service based on
the animation engine. The infrastructure
can consist of existing delivery mechanisms like web and various video
players, or it can involve more advanced interactive functionality using
the inovani player as a plugin in the browser. It can also be built for
mobile services using SMS and MMS services, WAP or mobile IP.

At present, the products are
delivered for Windows operating systems and in some cases also as
100% Java implementations. Video creation is delivered as a
net-based service.
The products are
easily portable to new operating systems. In particular the
“FacePlayer” can run on any hardware with more
than 100MHz CPU. The other products are also easily ported provided
that the necessary 3rd party software is available.
